State of the art manufacturing facility built by Sensarom at Tumkur’s Industrial Area- Sold to Swiss based MNC: Our post-covid Success Story
Sensarom had set up a new greenfield plant set in a 2.7 acre plot in Tumkur (80 KMs from Bangalore) with 2400 m2 of processing area and 1200 m2in warehousing space and 1000m2 in office and laboratory (see appendix 2 for details). This new plant started commercial production in January 2018 with facilities for the following products:
- Cake Gels and Glazed Gels targeting the bakery industry
- Cake & other premixes
- Liquid flavour manufacturing
- Seasonings & dry blends
As we were in the pipeline to fruition, at the start of 2020 most of us were impacted by the pandemic and the plans we had with the facility were affected as a result. We were operating only at about 30-40 % of our overall capacity and had excess bandwidth to scale production. This led to execution of new project opportunities for further contract manufacturing for global MNC’s like Oriental Yeast India, Bakels and Cargill.
While we were navigating the impacts of Covid, a swiss based MNC’s global team visited our plant for their quality audits, they expressed interest to acquire the entire plant. The experience we gathered in the engineering, building and commissioning the plant was nonetheless invaluable and stays with us for our current and future projects. We move forward with resilience and commitment to implement many such projects and product lines for our existing customers.
